Sometimes it`s fun to make group roles fit for the project. For example, in our carnival 4 a Cause, we used carnival operator, philanthropists, quality control and construction workers. Then we let the groups describe what each member of the group would do based on their role. By describing each person`s role, students get a voice on how they will approach the project. If you and your students become familiar with PBL, you can begin to have each group establish its own roles and responsibilities. One group may need a construction worker and another may need a link to the community partner. Not all groups will necessarily have the same needs so you can start letting them make these decisions. .
